A bit damp
(understatement of the year), but everyone had a great
time.
FAMILY CAMP FRIDAY-
ARRIVAL
Most
people arrived around 6:00pm; they then put their tents up and
got settled. The leaders prepared a BBQ and everyone put their
chairs around the fire and ate their supper. Skip explained
what would be happening over the camp and gave out sheets for
Cluedo, each leader represented a character. After that
everybody sat round the camp fire circle and had a
sing-a-long. Everybody went back to the cook
shelter and talked for a while listening to Graham
playing his guitar in the background.
SATURDAY – TREASURE HUNT -
AWARD GIVING
Saturday morning
and everybody went straight to the mess tent and got some
breakfast, it was bucketing it down so everybody squashed into
the mess tent to keep warm and dry. When it brightened up a
little we started the treasure hunt and answered the questions
as we went along. We stopped at the Black Bull Pub in
Birstall for lunch where Serena's mum Melanie, the
landlady, had provided a lovely buffet. Jack won the
treasure hunt and won a box of chocolates. After the treasure
hunt Derek did some air rifle shooting with whoever went
along, the shooting lasted for about 2 hours. After that all
the scouts and leaders put on their uniforms and went down to
the Pinder Chapel in the woods, all the parents got seated and
the scouts paraded down and stood in a horse shoe. The
District Commissioner, Alida, awarded the scouts with their
‘Chief Scout Gold Award’ badge and certificate. Yvonne
then promoted the new patrol leaders and assistant
patrol leaders. Everybody sat by the campfire and we had yet
another BBQ, after tea we all sat round the fire and had a
chat and a sing-a-long. The winner of the Cluedo competition
was announced and Natalie's family won the murder weapon as a
prize. Fortunately the weapon was only the spanner and
not the revolver! After relaxing for a while one of the
Cub leaders, Fin, decided to play ‘BANZAI’ and it was incredibly funny,
Graham and Lisa (Amy’s mum) did headstands in the middle of
the grass and Lisa won.
SUNDAY- PACKING
UP
Everyone
woke up bright and early and had some breakfast, then packed
up their tents and went home. Fun was had by all, but as for
Harry - we’re not quite sure?

Harry's poem about Family
Camp
Harry is one of our
Cubs; he scribbled this down on the back of an
envelope. I'm not sure if he had a nice time or not -
I'll let you decide! Click to see the full sized
